DENVER
May 31, 2005 - Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS)
was honored as the Rose Medical Center/HealthONE
community partner at a community breakfast held on
Friday, May 27, at the Denver Center for the
Performing Arts. Each HealthONE hospital annually
selects a partner as part of HealthONEs effort to
enrich community life through collaborations with
community organizations.
JFS was recognized for its collaboration with Rose
Medical Center in Senior Connections, a Naturally
Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC) program, which
helps seniors declare and maintain their independence.
Senior Connections is a unique pilot program in
Colorado that could serve as a model for future
programs throughout the state.
We are delighted to be named Rose Medical Center
HealthONE community partner, said Yana Vishnitsky ,
JFS president and chief executive officer. The JFS
board and staff extend their heartfelt gratitude to
Rose Medical Center s President and CEO Kenneth H.
Feiler and the Rose Advisory Board for this
prestigious honor.
Rose Medical Center has provided financial support to
develop this project, participate in clinics, and
advise the Senior Connections staff on the most
effective ways to deliver healthcare to residents.
Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado secured crucial
federal NORC funding to initiate the program. The
Dominican Sisters also collaborate in this
community-based program.
JFS, as lead agency, is working with seniors at Denver
s Allied Jewish Apartments and Crestmoor Downs to
provide a full range of services from at-home medical
visits to specialized transportation to movie theaters
or grocery stores. JFS also coordinates special
classes, wellness clinics, social events, housekeeping
and personal care assistance all to help seniors stay
as independent as possible, for as long as possible.
In addition to the award, JFS received a full page
article in the HealthONE annual report.
